Ten Times The Royals Dressed for Wimbledon in Style From Diana to Meghan
The annual Wimbledon tennis championships, held since 1877, has grown to become one of the world's premiere sporting events.
Each year, Wimbledon is attended by members of the royal family, who can often be spotted alongside important guests in Center Court's famous royal box.
From Princess Diana to Meghan Markle, the royals know how to put on a stylish show for one of the highlights of the social season.
Here, Newsweek looks at ten times the royals dressed for Wimbledon in style from the 1990s to the 2020s.

Princess Diana, July 4, 1993
Princess Diana was known to be an avid fan of tennis and from her first year as a royal bride to the end of her life, the princess attended Wimbledon wherever possible.
In 1993, Diana was present at the men's singles final match between Pete Sampras and Jim Courier. The princess was accompanied by her mother Frances Shand Kydd and she wore an elegant suit in peach-colored wool with a potted silk blouse underneath.
Diana contrasted her suit with layered gold jewelry, large faux pearl earrings and black sunglasses.

Princess Diana, July 9, 1995
For the 1995 men's singles finals match which saw Pete Sampras beat Boris Becker, Diana wore an elegant cream-tailored suit with statement buttons.
Also at the match were Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, then the world's most preeminent power couple, but they were not seated with the princess in the royal box. Instead, Diana was photographed chatting with her Kensington Palace neighbor the Duke of Kent and his sister, Princess Alexandra.

Queen Elizabeth II, June 24, 2010
The queen is more known for her passion for horseracing than tennis, but the monarch has appeared at the championships a handful of times throughout her 70-year reign.
The queen's most recent visit to Wimbledon was made in 2010, when she watched Andy Murray win a second-round match against Jarkko Nieminen on the center court.
For the occasion, the monarch wore a striking blue coat and dress combination with a matching hat which is an example of her "Rainbow Wardrobe" style honed over the past two decades. The queen was joined in the royal box for the occasion by her cousins, the Duke of Kent and the Duchess of Gloucester.

Kate Middleton, July 6, 2014
Kate Middleton shares Princess Diana's passion for Wimbledon and is the patron of the Lawn Tennis Association, which organizes the tournament.
For the men's singles finals match in 2014, the duchess wore a Jonathan Saunders day dress in a green and turquoise print which she had previously debuted on a royal visit to the Solomon Islands with Prince William in 2012.

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, July 11, 2018
Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall is a less frequent visitor to Wimbledon than her step-daughter-in-law.
Since marrying Prince Charles in 2005, the duchess has made a handful of visits and for the men's singles quarterfinal match in 2018 she attended with her sister, Anabelle Elliot.
For the event, Camilla wore a cream and beige spotted day dress with a v-shaped neckline and a full, box pleated skirt. With this, the royal carried a nude box-handled bag.

Meghan Markle, July 14, 2018
Like Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle is a passionate fan of tennis and even made her Wimbledon debut before her relationship with Prince Harry became known to the public.
For her first visit to the championship as a member of the royal family following her May 2018 wedding, Meghan attended alongside Kate wearing a statement outfit.
The duchess wore a bold blue and white striped shirt with elegant, wide-legged white pants. This outfit was made by Ralph Lauren, who had reportedly hosted the then-Suits actress at the event in 2016.

Kate Middleton July 2, 2019
For a full day of Wimbledon events in 2019, Kate Middleton wore a light day dress with capped sleeves and statement black buttons by designer Suzannah London.
The duchess has patronized this designer in the past and they also have another royal fan in Sophie, Countess of Wessex, the daughter-in-law of Queen Elizabeth II.
Kate paired her dress known as the "flippy wiggle" style with a woven handbag by the designer of her wedding dress, Alexander McQueen.

Meghan Markle, July 13, 2019
In 2019, shortly after the birth of her son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, Meghan made another Wimbledon appearance alongside Kate Middleton.
For the occasion, which saw the royal party watch Romania's Simona Halep play against Meghan's friend Serena Williams in the women's singles finals, Megan wore a summery ensemble with links back to her wedding day.
The royal wore a light pleated skirt with blue and black statement detail from Boss and paired this with a couture blouse made by the designers of her wedding dress, the house of Givenchy in Paris.

Princess Beatrice, July 8, 2021
For the Wimbledon women's singles semifinal match in 2021, Prince Andrew's daughter, Princess Beatrice, attended alongside her husband Eduardo Mappeli Mozzi in a statement dress by one of Kate Middleton's favorite designers.
The princess appeared in a monochrome spotted day dress with oversized puff sleeves by the brand Self-Portrait.
Beatrice had recently announced that she was expecting her first child and the royal's baby bump was emphasized by the addition of a matching white belt for the look.

Kate Middleton, July 10, 2021
For the women's singles finals match of Wimbledon's 2021 tournament, Kate Middleton attended alongside her husband, Prince William.
She wore an elegant emerald green day dress by designer Emilia Wickstead made from textured crepe and featuring a fluted paneled skirt and capped sleeves.
Kate paired her dress with a small white-handled bag by the British luxury leather goods designer Mulberry and a pair of her favorite Jimmy Choo "Romy" pumps in white leather.
